- If you were to ask me about my children or grandchildren, I could tell you volumes. About me, however, that is a different story. I am just your average, middle-aged grad student. I enjoy school; I talk too much (especially about my children and grandchildren). I am a recent empty-nester and still trying to adjust to this new state of being. I have to admit that while it is sometimes a little too quiet, I did enjoy playing poker and drinking wine the other night. It was the first time that I had done that in years and years and years. I could maybe get used to not having to worry so much about meeting everyone elses needs and expectations- maybe even spend some time recapturing who I was before my name was changed to "Mom".
